Atlanta’s Migos had one of the biggest summer anthems last year with their melodious club hits, “Versace” and “Hannah Montana.” Continuing to ride off the success of their blowout year, the rap trio has been busy doing shows throughout the United States and working in the studio to give fans new music. As they made their way out to the Bay Area for the first time, Migos stopped by the 106 KMEL studios to talk with our very own, Shay Diddy, about their 2014 plans and addresses the Chief Keef situation.
Consisting of members Quavo, Offset, and TakeOff, the trio was steadily working on music for the past two years and trying to stay consistent in the clubs with their hits. Having made a name for themselves in Atlanta, they finally got their big break with “Versace.” They reflect back on how quickly things took off after releasing ‘YRN,’ with the help of Drake’s remixed verse of the Zaytoven-produced track, especially while Offset was still incarcerated at the time.
While their quick rise to stardom has made Hip Hop news, it’s their feud with Chicago rapper Chief Keef that has kept them at the topic of discussion. When asked about why the beef, Quavo explains, “We the hottest thing right now. When you’re hot, they try to put water on it. But you can’t put water on a grease fire.” The guys also make it clear that until their paths cross, they have no interest in talking things out if it doesn’t affect their money and goals.
